Disney Springs: The Most Magical Place on Earth.

Disney Springs is a themed shopping, dining and entertainment complex at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando. The complex includes four distinct areas: Marketplace, West Side, Town Center and The Landing.

A Brief History of Disney Springs.

The area now known as Disney Springs was originally conceived by Walt Disney in the 1960s as a new town center for the Walt Disney World Resort. However, it wasn't until the late 1990s that construction finally began on the project. In March of 1975, the first phase of what was then called the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village opened to the public. The second phase followed in 1977 with more shops and restaurants, as well as a movie theater. In 1989, the complex was renamed Downtown Disney Marketplace. In September of 1994, Pleasure Island – a nightlife district featuring nightclubs and restaurants – debuted at Downtown Disney Marketplace. Then, in 1997, construction began on West Side – an entertainment-focused area with stores and live-action theaters. Lastly, in May of 1998, Town Center – a lakefront dining and shopping district – opened at Downtown Disney Marketplace (which was officially renamed Downtown Disney at that time). Finally, after more than two decades of planning and development, all four areas of Downtown Disney were completed when The Landing opened in 2015.
